Colorado is a rugged place. Tours will take place at elevations up to 9,000 feet. We won’t be getting too far from the vehicle but be prepared to walk up to a half mile to access some of our leks. Conditions change quickly so expect weather conditions ranging from sub-freezing temperatures and snow to plenty of sunshine and heat to thunderstorms.
For early season tours: a heavy winter jacket, hat and gloves, thermal underwear and insulated boots are recommended.
For later season tours: layers, light gloves, and solid hiking boots recommended, including a windbreak/rain layer.
Year-round: Expect bright sunshine anytime of the year so sunglasses and sunscreen are a must. We will provide bottled water or bring your own bottle if you want to reduce waste.
Optics: Bring your binoculars, 10 x 42 is good for this tour. If you are hoping to take pictures, we recommend at least a 400 mm lens, anything less will likely be too small.
Provided: Antigone will provide spotting scopes, seating, and a blind as well as a field lunch and beverages.
